6-Alarm Fire Roars Through East Bay Construction Site

EMERYVILLE — A 6-alarm fire erupted at an construction site early Wed sending a immense plume of flames and smoke that was visible for miles and to commuters on Highways 24, 580 and 980.

Authorities there have been no injuries reported in the fire that was burning in a 5-story apartment building under construction at 3838 San Pablo Avenue.

As a precaution, residents of a townhouse complex across the street were evacuated.

The fire erupted at 2:30 in the morning and was being battled by 25 units from all over the East Bay.
