Sparkling property picks eight acres of Pinot Meunier

American Canyon, Calif. —The North Coast grape harvest for 2016 started just as the Sunday was rising today at 5:45 in the morning Workers picked an 8-acre block of Pinot Meunier at the Nord family’s Green Island Vineyard in American Canyon, south of Napa.

The 20.4 tons of grapes were picked at 19° Brix and headed for Pernod-Ricard’s Mumm Napa in Rutherford, where they will eventually become part of Mumm’s Blanc de Noir sparkling wines.

Nord added, “We’re still getting calls for grapes, but we sold out in February.”
